In her latest pictures we can discern a special combination of past and present. The natural motifs disappear completely giving way to abstraction. In her recent works she constructs autonomous non-figurative artistic formations thereby widening the perspectives of her creative art. These pieces can be defined as lyrical non-figurative.

With her deep knowledge in classic arts and with her expertise she is continually in quest of new ways and possibilities for innovation. In the present stage of this process, researching the pictorial representation of the universe she wishes to depict its dramatic motive forces. Rich colourit non-figurative forms flash from the black and white basic tone background representing the infinity of the intellectually comprehensible universe. Parallel to this she creates spheres of different colours which almost become alive to live a life of their own. With this the unification of plastic and pictorial, in a spherical form, the spatial representation of the earlier plane content appears as a new phenomenon in Erika Baktay’s art. These pieces are on the borderline of plastic art and painting. Their elements provide the possibility for the visual representation of movement and light thereby creating her own microcosmos.
